In-Home Consultations

After visiting our showroom and selecting your product, the next step is to schedule an in-home consultation with one of our experienced staff members. This assures that the product you have selected will meet your expectations and that we are prepared for your installation.

Building Permits

Building permits are required by all jurisdictions within Sonoma and neighboring counties for installation of those fireplace or stove products that result in an alteration to existing conditions. The team at On Fire is available to assist you in obtaining your permit.

It is important to note that a building permit may also be required by your homeowner’s insurance policy. Additionally, in some jurisdictions, homeowners and contractors have paid hefty fines for work performed without a permit when the homes entered the real estate market.

Suffice it to say, obtaining a building permit is in your best interests, assuring you of a safe and proper installation adhering to the strictest local codes.

Installation Service

On Fire holds California Contractor’s License No. 444985 and maintains a team of highly qualified installation and service staff. Factory-sponsored training and extensive manufacturers’ certifications keep our staff updated on the latest technical issues and installation best-practices. The National Fireplace Institute certification sets a high standard for excellence in the fireplace industry. On Fire proudly holds certifications as a wood burning and gas specialist.

Repair and Maintenance

Our products occasionally require service or at least general maintenance. However, many problems (such as how to light your pilot light) can be solved by consulting your owner’s manual. The manufacturers’ websites usually have troubleshooting sections and owner’s manuals available for downloading. You can access the websites for our major manufacturers through this web site.

General service is recommended for gas burning inserts and fireplaces (with fixed glass fronts) at least every other year for natural gas, and every year for propane.

Airtight wood stoves, inserts and fireplaces should be periodically checked for loose-fitting gaskets, creosote build-up or plugged spark arrestors. A competent chimney sweep should clean your chimney after you burn through each cord of wood.

Pellet stoves require regular maintenance as well. In addition to daily maintenance performed by the homeowner, periodic thorough cleanings should be conducted by a pellet stove specialist. Again, the owner’s manual is an excellent resource for maintenance information.
